Speaking with Israel National Radio’s Eve Harow, Janet, a former New Yorker, tells how she was raised and educated in a Catholic surrounding. Although her parents were strictly religious, Janet left all organized faith behind when she went to college in the west Village in Manhattan. It was there that she met her husband, a lapsed reform Jew.
Yoga, an increasingly popular exercise, can be used not only to improve flexibility and mental clarity but, in the case of Janet Wilson, also as stepping stone in a journey from a devout Catholic family to Orthodox Jew.
Meeting him and his Jewish roommate were Janet’s first connections with Judaism. After getting married against both families’ wishes, Janet and her husband moved to Binghamton, New York where Janet got a job teaching early childhood. The following series provides the essential elements of a well balanced routine in a condensed 15-minute period on a yoga mat.Many of us would love to practice a regular yoga routine, but find it difficult to fit into our busy schedule. Since we don’t have 60–90 minutes to do a full yoga class , we end up doing nothing. But there is a solution: for those days when you do not have the luxury of time to devote to a complete routine, 15 minutes of yoga will still do wonders! Keep in mind that a balanced practice will consist of forward bends, backbends, twisting postures, and side stretches.
I can’t say enough good things about pelvic tilts. They are just amazing. Often I don’t even realize that my back is stiff and hurting until I lie down on my mat. The first few pelvic tilts reveal any traces of low back pain, but after 10 to 20 pelvic tilts, the pain is gone. Do them slowly, and keep going until any pain is gone and the movement feels fluid and good.
Some days, it’s just not possible to put in a full hour and a half of yoga on a yoga mat. But most days will allow for this 10- to 15-minute sequence that stretches the back, hamstrings, and hips, problem areas for many people. Over time, you will see the positive effect these stretches have on your longer practice sessions.

Here is a 20 minute fun flow to incorporate into your practice for a bit of fun, variety, or when you cannot get to your class. Take it easy, move with your breath, and modify when you need to buy cheap yoga mat. We start with sun salutations, which you can slow down, or speed up to fit your mood, and fitness level.We get a lot of requests from students and listeners for a good place to start your practice. What does a TPE yoga mat contain?
The material is called TPE. Its is a synthetic rubber that neither contains latex,toxins, softeners/phthalates.
- TPE is a modern material and has been developed with the environment in mind in order to replace natural rubber in many products.
